I consider all the work in the galleries as my art photography. But the work in this gallery, excluding the bicycles, are not large enough bodies of work to warrant their own gallery.

When my interest in still photography became more serious I asked a cousin, who was a successful commercial artist in Pittsburgh at the time, for some advice. In short, master black and white photography, and study the work of people like Ansel Adams. I proceeded to do as he suggested. I was already a fan of W. Eugene Smith who's work I saw in magazines like Life when I was growing up. Through Adam's association with Group F 64 I learned of Edward Weston. Although Adams, Smith and Weston were all influences, it was Weston who became my premier guide into fine art photography.

In wanting to be taken more seriously as an art photographer, I went to Point Park College, a university now. and graduated in the Spring of 1984 with a BA Cum Laude in Photography as a Fine Art.

I have entered and exhibited in numerous photography and art shows over the years. I was a member, then president, of The Photoimager's Guild, a board member of the Pittsburgh Society of Artists, and a member of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh. I've been able to blend my art photography with my commercial photography, which served each other very well. Besides the work exhibited in group shows I have had a number of one man shows in recent years. The most rewarding though has been the work I have had published, and I'm always appreciative of those who have bought my work for their homes and businesses.
